First Aid at Work
Where a workplace first aid risk assessment identifies a need for a First Aider in the Workplace, this three-day qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.
The learner will gain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of workplace first aid situations.
This course covers a broad syllabus in first aid including assessment and treatment of a casualty, covering topics such as Injuries to bones, muscles, and joints, including suspected spinal injuries, chest injuries, burns and scalds, shock, choking, unconsciousness, and bleeding. Also included is how to recognise the presence of major illnesses (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes) and provide appropriate first aid. During this course, there will be an assessment of knowledge and skills.
